WHAT THE PAPER'S SAY..... ABOUT COLL

Extract from the TIMES ONLINE

The secret is out now!!! Indeed the Isle of Coll is truly heaven on earth (as long as the mist isn't in). I've been going back each year now for the last 4 or 5 years. I camp in the only campsite down the West End at Uig where Pat and Ken Graham run a small farm with their pedigree Hebridean Sheep. You can wild camp and many do, but I like the convenience of a flush toilet and running water. The locals are great, though most are incomers but this makes for a great cosmopolitan atmosphere. I have made many friends and amazingly they remember me from year to year. Don't miss Coll, Visit Coll.

Here are a few more write-ups....

I thought it may be helpful to have some unbiased opinions about Coll. For those who live on the island, it is easy to wax lyrical about her beauty, the glorious beaches, fantastic wildlife and the superb food served by the Coll Hotel, so, to redress the balance a wee bit, as newspaper articles are written about Coll, I will try to add them to my website.

In this photograph which is rather grainy I am afraid, you will see the Island Cafe, the Shore Street Cottages, and Annie's Croft, with the white gable end (NOT THE COTTAGES ON THE FRONT, BUT BEHIND). The bay is directly in front of the Island Cafe.

Isle of Coll Daily Record Media article

What "The Sun" said in April 2008....

"I’ve discovered a little chunk of paradise off the west coast of Scotland but I don’t really want to share it. The real beauty of the Isle of Coll is that there’s hardly anybody there and that’s the way I’d like to keep it.

The feelgood factor starts even before you step off the ferry… You’ve arrived in a land of tranquillity where hassle is an alien concept and relaxation is compulsory.

The real attractions of Coll are all natural – like the endless white sand beaches fringing a sea of shimmering greens and blues so sharp and so clear it looks electric.

We stayed at the three star Coll Hotel … where owners Julie and Kevin Oliphant’s passion for quality shines through in every detail. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere makes it more of an island hub than simply a place to sleep, eat and drink, Julie and Kevin, who picked up Scotland’s Best Island Hotel award earlier this year, are the perfect hosts."

HEBRIDES, ISLE OF COLL, THE COLL HOTEL

This is my favourite place in Scotland. All the islands are like their own wee worlds. The pub in the Coll Hotel is great, and the people are brilliant. As far as I'm concerned it's the best pub in Scotland. The atmosphere is great and it's all about the people.
